Christmas traditions explained!
Sending a letter to Father Christmas
One of the biggest traditions passed down through generations is for the children to send their Christmas wish list to Father Christmas.
The tradition started when Father Christmas was created by the Victorians in the 1800s. Children would write their wishes down on paper and throw it into the fire on Christmas Day, where the draught would carry the wishes up the chimney to Father Christmas.
Now, with new technological advances, children can send an email to Santa Claus and Argos have this year offered a service where children can select some of its 70,000 Christmas products.
