Blackadder starred in several series, each set in different periods of British history. From the court of Elizabeth I to the trenches of WWI each incarnation shared personality traits and characteristics throughout. Notably cunning, backstabbing and a pronounced Machiavellian streak. Despite this the British public have a real affection for Blackadder.
