EE's 5G Network Reached 71 UK Areas

BT-owned mobile operator EE switches 5G networks to additional UK 21 towns and cities.

EE’s 5G network is now available to 71 towns and cities in the United Kingdom. The service, which was initially made available to parts of London, Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh in 2019, has been recently rolled out to parts of Bath, Birkenhead, Bransholme, Bury, Chelmsford, Cheshunt, Clevedon, Clydebank, Dartford, Dinnington, Loughborough, Loughton, Motherwell, North Shields, Rochester, Rotherham, Rugeley, Swadlincote, South Shields, Staines and Waltham Cross.

 

Marc Allera, chief executive of BT’s consumer division, said: “We have 5G coverage in more places than any other operator and remain focused on connecting even more towns and cities in 2020 and beyond to keep our customers connected in the busiest places,”

 

5G is the next-generation mobile network. It uses shorter-range, higher-frequency millimeter waves to transmit information at speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G. Because it is powerful and highly reliable, it is expected to be used in transmitting high volumes of data between connected devices, including driverless cars.
