Carrick McLelland, the boss of Gound Level Up, urges companies to make their idle servers available to medical research while their employees work from home. This follows his move of sharing his company’s two 96 Terabyte servers to Stanford Medical School in California to help medical researchers develop Covid-19 vaccine.
McLelland said: “These servers have huge processing power – multiple people are able to use them at the one time to download, edit and render digital material at the same time.
“I think it’s not only vital to keep massively powerful pieces of equipment like this in use, but also to use them in the fight against coronavirus."
