The UK Government is asking firms across all sectors to allow their employees to work from home whenever possible as it combats a potential pandemic of coronavirus in the country. Social distancing is also highly recommended to avoid the transmission of the virus.
Although ministers agree that the measures being taken will help to at least flatten the curve of infection, they warned up that up to 50per cent of workers could be in isolation. They said that businesses need to act now to review their network, ensuring that the necessary technology is available to them in order to facilitate voice and data integration for remote workers.
The government’s plans to contain the potential threat of Coronavirus highlights the need for many businesses to switch over to VoIP solutions to implement social distancing strategies and facilitate remote working.
They must also ensure that their employees remain safe and healthy. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention advises businesses to encourage good hand hygiene, actively encourage sick employees to stay home, emphasise the importance of staying at home when sick, encourage employees to travel only when necessary, and perform routine cleaning throughout the premises.
