Oscar-winning actress becomes new mum to baby boy...

Actress Charlize Theron has adopted a baby boy, her spokesperson has confirmed.

The single star, who has previously spoke openly about adoption, has become a new mother to baby Jackson.

In a statement to US Weekly, her team said:

"Charlize Theron has adopted a child.  She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson."

Oscar-winner Charlize recently split from her long-term boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, after nine years together.

She had always been open about wanting a child, telling Germany's In Touch magazine in August 2011:

"I want a baby. If it would happen tomorrow I would be very happy."

When asked by the publication if she would consider adopting as a single mother, she replied:

"Why not? I'm open to everything in life."

Charlize will next appear on the big screen as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Hunstman this summer, alongside Kristen Stewart.
