According to China Labour Watch, three Pegatron factories violate a large number of international Chinese labour laws and standards. These standards include contract violations, excessive working hours and underage labour.
Pegatron and Apple have agreed to investigate these allegations immediately. Apple in a statement said that they are committed to providing fair and conducive working conditions throughout their supply chain.
Also, the chief executive officer of Pegatron, Jason Cheng said in a statement that their firm was not happy with the allegations made against them, and that they would fully run an investigation so as to take necessary and immediate actions to correct violations to their code of conduct as well as the Chinese labour laws.
The firm also claimed that they are committed to setting very high standards for themselves with the help of their dedicated team which audit and investigate issues.
These claims have also been made to Apple when Foxconn, one of its biggest suppliers got accused for violating worker rights.
Foxconn had to face serious scrutiny when it was found that a large amount of workers committed suicide at some of its plants.
