Kate Winslet will appear in Ricky Gervais' new sitcom 'Extras'.

The Hollywood actress will play herself in the upcoming show, which stars 'The Office' funnyman as a struggling acting extra.

In the episode, Kate is working on a movie as a nun who hides people from the Nazis during the Second World War and Ricky's character tries to boost his role by making friends with her.

He revealed to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Kate Winslet plays a nun hiding people from the Nazis and I approach her to ingratiate myself and try and get a line."

Other Hollywood stars to appear in the eagerly anticipated comedy series include Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Stiller and Patrick Stewart.
