China has built a 475-foot tall Ferris wheel over the Bailang River in its Shandong Province. It is due to open to public soon and it features built-in television sets and wireless internet in every capsule. The massive structure has 36 carts; each can comfortably carry 10 passengers who are treated with views of the Bailang River in Weifang City.
The Ferris wheel is the first world’s spokeless Ferris wheel with grid design and is set to become Weifang’s newest and most eye-catching landmark. The Ferris wheel features crisscrossing steel beams that have been described as a “dragon spine.” Its complex architecture is vital for pulling off the spokeless and shaftless design. This results in a completely hollow centre that looks like a giant high-tech wheel.
