Which girls make the cheapest dates?
16:19 16 July 2010
A new survey has revealed the least expensive girls to take out on a first date.
The study asked 1,655 women to rate themselves according to whether they considered themselves to be a cheap or expensive first date.
The research found that Essex girls were the cheapest, with 61% rating themselves as such. Liverpool lasses were next in line (59%), followed by Newport, Northampton and Slough.
A further 22% of women from the South East would be happy if their guy spent a mere £20 on them, while, at the other end of the scale, women from Woking expect a man to shell out at least £150.
Whereas as many as a quarter of Essex girls said they would be happy with a burger and chips or a curry, a mere 2% from Woking said they would be content with such an evening. Two in five from Woking even wanted dinner at a Michelin starred restaurant, costing over £300 and a further 19% were hoping for a three course meal.
As well as considering themselves to be a "cheap date" in the survey by city deals website Groupola.com, over half of Essex girls are more likely to split the bill and only 6% would expect a man to spend £150 on a night out.
The poll found that 29% of Liverpool ladies think the perfect first date is to taken out to dinner, and almost one third would go on a second date if the guy had taken them a drink in the pub. And as many as 16% from Newport would be fine if a man took them for their first date on a bus.
Meanwhile, for guys hoping to get lucky, it is the ladies back in Essex who are most likely to spend some time between the sheets with more than one fifth saying they would sleep with the guy at the early stages of a relationship. However, ladies in Bournemouth
After Woking (56%), it was the women in Winchester (47%), Oxford (41%) who believed themselves to be the most expensive females. But in seems that money-conscious men in the recession would not be laughed at with the suggestion of a second date if they had used discount coupons; just under half of those in Newport would not mind if their mate used a token to lower the cost of a date.
Managing director at Groupola.com who conducted the survey, said: "When money is tight, it's not always feasible to spend a great deal on a date.
"It is endearing to discover that women wouldn't judge a man who just took her to a burger bar."
