What is the Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch?
Is Fitbit finally transforming into a true smartwatch?
17:58 12 December 2017
Fitbit’s newest watch, the Fitbit Ionic, now has a number of apps that are available via a software update.
Following the launching of the watch in October, Fitbit promised that app development would transform what it can do. Delivering on their promise, the watch now has ETrade, Flipboard, a Hue Lights control app, Surfline, the New York Times and Yelp. Fitbit also promises to add United Airlines, TripAdvisor, Nest, Clue and Game Golf by the end of the year.
However, the most exciting part might be Fitbit Labs, where the company plans to explore new ideas like gamified fitness. It features Fitbit Pet and Treasure Trek as well as Mood Log, a mood-logging watch face that looks for patterns. Others include Think Fast (a mental-acuity game encouraging sleep habits and a tennis-tracking app, which are coming next month.
