What is Netflix Inflight 2.0?
Netflix Inflight 2.0 could bring faster WiFi to multiple airlines.

Netflix has recently announced a new initiative that could bring faster WiFi to multiple airlines. Called “Netflix Inflight 2.0”, the service will provide airlines with better tools and information so passengers can enjoy in-flight streaming media.
The company said that the service could improve buffering times and help reduce bandwidth, so that airlines “can now support and promote certain in-flight services as a core part of [the airline’s] offering rather than sticking it on some kind of premium tier.”
By empowering airlines to offer free or low-cost WiFi, existing Netflix users will be able to sign into their accounts and stream their favourite shows as usual. Bandwidth will be limited to 250 kbps.
This model was pioneered by Netflix in 2015 when it partnered with Virgin America to offer free in-flight WiFi to passengers. The program has since expanded to include Aeromexico and Qantas.
