Corrie scriptwriters may be forced to do some hasty re-editing to remove references to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles in Ken and Deirdre's wedding scenes.
The Weatherfield and Windsor lovebirds were both due to marry on Friday in what TV bosses insist was a coincidence.
But the announcement the the Pope would be buried on the day of both fictional and royal wedding threw Clarence House's plans into disarray - and forced Charles to put back his big day by 24 hours.
This now poses problems for Ken and Deirdre, who have reportedly already been filmed cracking a few jokes about the royal couple during the hour-long episode.
One scene sees Mike Baldwin comparing Ken to the future king and Deirdre to Camilla, the Sun reported on Saturday.
However, there may now have to be some furious re-writes to ensure the scenes, in which Ken and Deirdre get married for the second time, do not predict the future.
The characters' first marriage, starring the same actors Anne Kirkbridge and William Roache, coincided with the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981.
