Philips has recently released an app update aimed at making the use of smart lights for home security even easier.
The recent update introduces a refreshed design and new built-in lighting scenes for ease of use, which ensures both sunrise and sunsets can be mixed with specific on and off time when creating automation.
The new update allows users to set lights to come on and off at specific times of the day. For example, you'll be able to set your porch light at sunset and programme them to automatically turn off just before sunrise, allowing you to save on electricity. There is also an option to randomise the times for lights to switch on and off to deter intruders.
Philips says that the Hue 4.0 app, which has more than 100 updates over the current version, is more responsive. It also introduces new exciting features, including multi-user geofencing, which allows to app to check if other members of the household are home before activating location-based automation. The app also provides switch support between bridges for users who have more than one home that uses Philips Hue smart lights.
Philips Hue is set to be updated again in the next few months and it will feature 'dynamic scenes'. This sees each of the lights in a room or zone slowly transition through the different colors included in the scene to create an unusual lighting effect.
