As the temperature in the UK has dropped to the coldest of the year so far, snow, 50mph gales and washouts have been predicted this week.
Brits are now experiencing -9C temperature, which is colder than the South Pole. This was recorded at Dalwhinnie, Highland. Meanwhile, -4C was recorded yesterday morning on England's border with Scotland.
A yellow warning for snow has been issued by the Met Office while forecasters have warned of travel disruptions as up to 10cm of snow is predicted.
Spokesman Simon Williams said: “The full spectrum of winter weather is ahead. Drivers should show extra caution and watch out for the hazards of snow, flood water and strong winds.”
The Environment Agency has issued 77 flood alerts across England and Wales. A severe warning, classed as a "danger to life" was issued for St Michael village in west Lancashire. Many residents were forced to leave early this week due to weather condition.
Areas affected by flood warnings include large parts of east Lancashire including Pendle, the Ribble Valley and Burnley, and large areas of West Yorkshire including Leeds, Dewsbury, Batley, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Cleckheaton.
Elsewhere, flood warnings were also issued in Preston, York and Rochdale.
