Two men are accused of murdering Alan Greaves while he was on his way to Christmas Eve mass

Two men who are accused of murdering 68-year-old Alan Greaves are to appear in court on Friday. Mr. Greaves was attacked on Christmas Eve while he was on his way to midnight mass. He later died as a result of his head injuries.
The pair are named as Jonathan Bowling, aged 22, and Ashley Foster, 21, and they are expected to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court Friday 11th January. This follows their arrest, which was carried out earlier this week.
Mr. Greaves, who was an organist, was making his way to St. Saviour's Church in High Green, Sheffield, on the night he was attacked.
During a service held for Mr. Greaves in church his wife openly spoke to the congregation. It is understood that Mrs. Greaves has been supported by the community in the wake of her husband’s death. She told the crowd she felt their love towards her.
There was an inquest opened into the death of Mr. Greaves by Sheffield coroner Chris Dorries, although he later adjourned this.
Two other men have been bailed in regards to the incident until further questioning.
Mr. Greaves has left behind four children.
