The idea of change is really intimidating to most, but the good news is that you don’t need a complete makeover to improve yourself. A few easy habits can go a long way to boosting your sense of wellbeing and making your days more meaningful leading to a more successful everyday life.
Here are a few ways to become the very best version of yourself.
1. Start Now
Have you become a pro at procrastination? Do something about it right now! The hardest step is always starting, but it’s easy. Just do it. It will take some time to achieve lasting change, but don’t let that get you down. Tomorrow will eventually catch up with you.
2. Baby Steps
To execute any task you need to make a plan that includes steps for when and how to achieve the final goal. Break up a big goal into its smallest components and deal with smaller, bite-sized components rather than just jumping into a big overwhelming task.
3. Learn From Others
You can grow from the experiences and the success of other people, as well as learn from their mistakes. Learning from your own experiences can be harsh and unnecessary, so learning from the mistakes of others can save you a lot of trial and error.
Consider a mentor or look at some options for coaching online to make your task a lot easier. Having someone to guide you and make informed suggestions is not a cop-out. Having an experienced voice can take away a lot of your stress and uncertainty regarding decision-making.
4. Embrace Change
Change can be uncomfortable, but the world is changing all the time and even if you do nothing things will remain in a constant state of change. You can’t get away from this inevitability, so why not learn to embrace it?
5. Be Accountable
You are responsible and accountable for what you do and where you are today, which means that you are responsible for your own progress up until this point and from this point onwards.
It is your job to start your personal development plan. If you don’t, no one else can, nor will they. Taking responsibility means that you acknowledge no one else is to blame for where you are and the choices you have made. Your success and failure are yours to own.
6. Recognize Your Worth
Focus on what you already have and not just your failures. Think about how others have been able to benefit from what you do and have done in the past. When you improve yourself, these benefits increase and you are able to see how your personal development benefits others around you just as much as it does you.
7. Be Intentional
Find your true intention before you decide to do something and make sure you really want it. If your goals and intentions do not align, you will find yourself thinking up lots of excuses and all sorts of situations that impede your progress.
8. Challenge Yourself
The goals you set need to be just out of your reach. People thrive on conquering a challenge. If you reach for an impossible target, you will be setting yourself up for failure and won’t be able to taste the satisfaction associated with achieving something great. Likewise sticking to what’s easy will also be denying yourself the satisfaction of achieving something. Finding that middle ground is what leads to growth.
9. Follow Your Passion
Doing something you don’t like adds no value to your life. Follow your ambitions but remember that there are always obstacles, so be sure you’re following your heart but don’t run away from the things that make it hard.
10. Keep Going & Don’t Give Up
Life is filled with ups and downs and these never go away. This seems to just be part of the cycle of life. When you hit a slow point or things seem to plateau keep going. Continual rapid advancement is not a real thing, which means that any plans you set for yourself need to be achievable and balance with your lifestyle needs.
Find your rhythm and go with the flow because there’s no such thing as finished personal growth. We are constantly growing and learning about ourselves and what we want from life. I hope that you take some of these tips and apply them to your day-to-day life to be the best you that you can be.
