Thousands to attend Margaret Thatcher’s funeral

The former PM’s ceremonial funeral will take place in London on Wednesday morning

The funeral of Baroness Margaret Thatcher will be held at 11am on Wednesday, 17^th April, at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Over 2,000 individuals from around the globe are thought to have been invited to attend the service to pay their respects to the former Prime Minister.

 

After Baroness Thatcher’s coffin was kept overnight at the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, which is in the Palace of Westminster, on Tuesday 16^th April, it will now be covered with a union flag and be taken to St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Around 4,000 military persons will be involved in plans for Wednesday morning.

 

Among those who are attending the late Baroness’ funeral are the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and also the Prime Minister of Britain, among many other figureheads.

 

There has been controversy caused by the funeral in regards to it being one step away from a state funeral.

 

Baroness Thatcher was approved of by many individuals, but also many others disapproved.

 

In the wake of her death, reportedly there have been celebrations carried out by certain people. There are fears that there may be protests staged on the day of the ceremonial funeral.

 

Baroness Margaret Thatcher died at 87 years old last Monday, on April 8^th. She was Britain’s first female Prime Minister, having been appointed the position in 1979. She held the post for over a decade.
