There has been much controversy lately over the complaint that insurance companies may be misrepresenting their Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) plan. There are certainly a number of other names which can refer to this specialized cover, but the principle is the same. Companies, in general, are being accused of misleading customers, either intentionally or accidentally, into purchasing PPI insurance.
Here are a few of the situations that have been brought to light regarding this particular situation with PPI.
- Customers were automatically signed up
- Unauthorized sign-ups where customers didn’t even talk to a PPI company
- Unemployed, self-employed, and contract workers were sold the coverage from which they would never be able to receive a single benefit
- The type of cover may have been misrepresented
- Confusing jargon may have been used to entice customers
- Full understanding of the product may have been lacking upon initial sign-up
These are a few of the situations dealing with PPI and there has been a rash of PPI reclaims filed to receive funds that were previously paid to the companies under false pretences. Each case may be a little bit different, but as a general rule the above listed situations comprise the ones which you may be able to receive help with.
There are a number of tools available to help make your PPI reclaim easy and devoid of worry. There are calculators which can estimate how much you might qualify to receive, and can also offer to pursue the filing of the forms.
Many of these companies do not require payment up front for services, but will take a percentage if the reclaim is processed. Be sure to check the types of fees that these sites charge. It is also possible to file your PPI reclaim form for free, though it obviously requires more involvement. It does however; give you the right to your entire PPI reclaim.
