Jessie J has been confirmed as the first star coach on the UK version of The Voice.
The announcement was made on Radio OneÂ’s breakfast show with Chris Moyles by way of a guessing game featuring the Price Tag singer.
The star, who recently appeared on the X Factor as an advisor to Groups' Mentor Tulisa, explained how the show works and confirmed that there will be four coaches and each will select ten hopefuls by the ‘blind auditions’ process.
The singer also praised the auditions process where the judges, hear but donÂ’t see the auditionees, saying:
"I do think sometimes that a lot of people don't audition for these shows because, they don't feel they look like a pop star. I can't wait, I'm so excited about it.”
In a statement Danny Cohen, controller of BBC One, said:
"Jessie J is going to be an amazing coach on The Voice UK. She's a massive young star with a strong personality, and her recent MOBO nominations are testament to her musical and creative ability."
Lenny Kravitz and Charlotte Church have been linked to the show. Cee Lo Green, a coach for the US version of the show was also rumoured to be taking part, going as far to say that he would, however that was recently revealed not to be the case.
Speaking about Cee-LoÂ’s departure, a source told The Sun:
"He'd have been a great signing but he has to commit to the US show."
Open auditions will begin in London on 31 October with the show slated to be aired in Spring 2012.
