Fallingwater
Designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 for the Kaufmann family, Fallingwater is an iconic destination that is well worth hiring a car and taking a road trip for.
Famous for its bold architecture, the building is dramatically constructed over a waterfall and was a notable turning point for Wright’s architectural career, quickly becoming one of the most famous buildings of the 20th century. The former residence is now a museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, integrating perfectly into the rocky landscape with the waterfall as a magnificent centerpiece.
Philadelphia
You can't visit Pennsylvania without taking in the sights of one of the most visited cities in the States. Rich in history and culture, Philly is home to an abundance of museums, galleries, architecture, and vibrant nightlife, including trendy nightclubs and futuristic casinos. Perfect in the winter for weekends away in a cozy cabin or for picnics and hikes in the summer, Ricketts Glen is the perfect place to visit when you’re traveling around Pennsylvania.
Pittsburgh
Though Pittsburgh might not be known for its beauty, it flaunts stunning art déco architecture and filigreed public libraries. The classic brick row houses, steel bridges, and lofty skyscrapers contrast theatrically against mountains and rivers, creating a beauty rarely seen.
The arts scene is thriving here, and it is worth taking the time to visit the galleries and the Andy Warhol Museum. Grab a bite to eat in one of the amazing restaurants before heading on a bike tour to take in the sights of the city.
Hersheypark
Located in the town of Hersey, famous for its association with chocolate, Hersheypark is a vast amusement park filled with over 110 acres of entertainment and rides. Originally constructed in 1906 for the workers of the Hersey factory, the park opened its first roller-coaster in 1923 and has been a successful award-winning attraction ever since. Try out one of the 76 rides before heading into Hershey’s Chocolate World to sample the chocolate and candy on the chocolate factory themed tour.
From chocolate factories and pop art museums to natural wonders and award-winning architecture, Pennsylvania is the place to be. The only problem will be trying to fit everything in!
