ITV have cut Tarrant's new show after seven episodes...

Chris Tarrant's latest ITV gameshow has been axed after seven episodes.

'The Colour Of Money', a cash machine themed show which saw contestants compete to win big money, has gradually been dropping in viewing figures since it began.

ITV executives had hoped the gameshow would attract five million viewers in its primetime slot.

However the first episode attracted four million and by the time the final show aired only 2.7 million tuned in.

An insider told The Sun: "These days ITV needs much bigger ratings. And it wasn't the cheapest show to make either."

An ITV spokesperson said: "There are no current plans for it to return."

ITV recently axed 60s police drama 'Heartbeat' and 'The Royal'.
