Syria “crossed international global red line”

John Kerry: "Assad's deplorable use of chemical weapons crosses an international, global red line."

US Secretary of State John Kerry was in Europe to get support from different nations against President Bashar al-Assad. Syrian’s government is being accused of using chemical weapons that killed more than 1,000 civilians in the country. Mr Kerry says he and Arab league foreign ministers agree that Syria’s alleged use of chemical weapons crosses an international, global red line.

He added that there is no military solution to the problem.

"We have repeated and I repeat every time I stand up and talk about it - there is no military solution.”

"What we are seeking is to enforce the standard with respect to the use of chemical weapons."

He added: "It is clear that if we don't take action, the message to Hezbollah, Iran, Assad will be that nobody cares that you have broken this 100-year-old standard."

Meanwhile, on September 09, Monday, Mr Kerry gave Syria a week to hand over chemical weapons to avoid military attack. However, the secretary added that he doesn’t expect the Syrian leader to comply. He believes that Assad was responsible for the chemical weapon attack in east Damascus on August 21.

Mr Assad has denied any involvement.
