Melanie Sykes has been granted a quickie divorce from her husband after arguing with him about money.

The daytime TV presenter, who married Italian actor Daniel Caltagirone in 2001, told a London court of his "unreasonable behaviour" and how she struggled to cope with his failure to sort out their financial difficulties.

In legal papers, she said: "The distress I felt at the respondent's failure to appreciate our financial situation is still with me and not likely to abate until our finances are severed following divorce."

Caltagirone did not contest her claims but he argued he should not have to pay all legal costs. He said: "I consider there was fault on both sides."

Sykes is said to have became uneasy about their financial situation after 'Today With Des and Mel' which she presented alongside Des O'Connor - was axed from ITV1 in 2006.

The couple, who have two children together, have agreed to stay friends and share access.
