Becky Watts’ 28-year-old stepbrother Nathan Matthews has been charged for her murder. Nathan’s 21-year-old partner Shauna Hoare, has also been charged with intending to pervert the course of justice.
Another four men and a woman remain in custody on suspicion of assisting an offender. The police team was granted a one-day extension to interrogate the five, who are all in their 20’s.
Becky was reported missing on February 20 by her family. She disappeared a day before from her home in Crown Hill, in the St George area of Bristol. On Tuesday, police confirmed that body parts were found at a house in the Barton Hill area of the city. Formal identification has yet to be completed.
However, in a joint statement, Becky’s mother, Tania Watts, brother Daniel and grandmother Pat said they were "at an utter loss to understand why anyone would want to hurt our beautiful Becky in such a brutal way.”
Meanwhile, Becky’s father Darren Galsworthy is said to be heartbroken. Becky’s aunt Sarah Broom said: "He is completely and utterly broken and there is nothing in this world of comfort to him - how does a parent ever recover from this? How can a family?"
