Star in shoplifting scandal
Presenter accused of stealing from a London shop...
10:41 16 March 2011
The future of Peaches Geldof's ITV1 show is in the balance, after she was accused of stealing a dress from a London clothes shop.
The allegations could affect the chances of her new show, OMG! With Peaches Geldof, getting a second series, after just two episodes.
The presenter and daughter of rocker Bob Geldof has rejected the claims that she stole a £70 dress from a boutique in Camden.
Staff at Vintage King said that the garment disappeared after the 22-year-old visited the store last week.
However, a spokesperson Geldof said:
"Peaches knows nothing about this incident, which she strenuously denies.
"SheÂ’s not been contacted by the police and was actually doing a voice-over at the alleged time of the alleged incident."
Latest in a series of accusations
A staff member at the shop spoke about the incident, saying:
"It was a really nice dress, a vintage 1940s one, and it's a shame because she could easily afford to just buy it.
"A lot of celebrities come here to buy vintage clothes, but I don't think Peaches is anything special. ItÂ’s not fair that she gets away with this sort of thing."
These claims are the latest in a long line of shoplifting allegations surrounding the presenter, from which she has always been exonerated.
In March 2008, she was accused of leaving a store with a £500 dress that she hadn't paid for, but later returned it saying it was a "simple misunderstanding".
She was stopped in an Urban Outfitters store in 2006 for being suspected of stealing a coat, but was allowed to leave after paying for the item.
Peaches has also been accused of taking clothes from a photo shoot in the past and taking an item from an east London shop without paying. She later returned the item.
