Clarkson in 'fight with fan'

Jeremy Clarkson has reportedly been involved in a fight with an Australian fan in a restaurant.

The Top Gear presenter, who is in Australia for the motoring show's live tour, was dining with Top Gear Australia presenter Shane Jacobson on 12 March, when a fan tried to take photographs of them.

An onlooker told the Herald Sun that Clarkson was furious, grabbing the man's phone and slamming it onto the table:

"It was pretty loud. The whole restaurant heard the whole scene."

The fan, Michael Garner, claims that he thought Clarkson was going to hit him, telling 3AW in Australia:

"We weren't intrusive. I didn't walk up to him. He was 8ft away, he wasn't close by.

"He's got out of his seat, stormed over and shirt-fronted me.

"In some ways, yes, I thought it could be on."

A Top Gear spokesperson said that the crew had been having a private dinner and their privacy was invaded, but the situation was resolved amicably.
