Former Westlife star Brian McFadden has been quizzed by police after apparently “running amok” on a Virgin flight.
The 30-year-old Irish singer was flying from Los Angeles to Australia when he was said to have abused flight attendants and fellow passengers.
Passengers on the flight claimed that McFadden was drinking heavily, shouting and being generally abusive.
He was even reported to have lit a cigarette while on board.
McFadden had to be restrained by Australian TV talent show presenter Kyle Sandilands, who was travelling with him.
Cabin crew reported McFaddenÂ’s behaviour to ground staff and police met the plane on landing to question the star.
As he left Sydney airport, 9 News asked McFadden if he had smoked during the flight. He replied that he doesnÂ’t smoke, despite having a cigarette in his mouth at the time.
He then told AustraliaÂ’s 7 news later on:
“I had a couple of drinks on the plane; I'm not going to lie about that. But I definitely wasn't causing a scene or causing any problems for anybody.”
A spokeswoman for the airline confirmed there had been an incident on the flight but said it was an issue for federal police.
McFadden is currently a judge on TV reality show AustraliaÂ’s Got Talent.
