Soul star Solomon dies at 70

US soul singer Solomon Burke has died at the age of 70.

The singer, who wrote the song Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, died at AmsterdamÂ’s Schiphol airport early on Sunday, according to Dutch national broadcaster, NOS.

Burke had been due to perform at a club in the city on Tuesday.

The former preacher leaves behind 21 children and 90 grandchildren.

The cause of death has not yet been announced.
