Pirates of the primary school
Hollywood actor surprises pupils to help with ‘mutiny’...
10:58 08 October 2010
Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp took time out from filming for the fourth episode in the saga in order to grant a childÂ’s wish yesterday.
The Hollywood actor, dressed as Jack Sparrow from the film, had received a letter from 9-year-old Beatrice Delap asking him to help her and fellow pupils to create a ‘mutiny’ against their teachers.
Meridian Primary School had just ten minutes to prepare for the arrival of Depp, who had been filming scenes nearby at the 18th century Old Naval College.
The youngster later told London Tonight that her letter had said:
“Captain Jack Sparrow, at Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we'd love if you could come and help.
“Beatrice Delap, aged nine, a budding pirate.”
After she had read this out to the rest of the school and her idol had given her a hug, he reportedly told her:
“Maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today ‘cos there are police outside monitoring me”.
Filming for Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides, is expected to finish by the end of the year, with the film due out in 2011.
