SoapÂ’s shock drug plot

Latest Emmerdale storyline is already causing controversy...

Emmerdale teen Holly Barton is to stoop to new lows in an upcoming episode after sheÂ’s found snorting heroin.

Holly has been battling  a drug addiction for some months now and despite attempted help from her parents, she is on the rocky road to complete ruin.

During a party, the teen will binge on heroin only to be found later slumped in her bed by her distraught parents.

Parents John and Moira have been seen recently doing everything they can do wean their daughter off drugs, but despite things looking promising, she has a shocking relapse.

This is not the first time that a soap has dealt with a drugs-related storyline of late. Phil Mitchell in Eastenders was seen to take a horrific turn for the worse as he became hooked on illegal substances.

This storyline was met with much criticism, as some viewers found scenes too disturbing to be aired before the watershed.

It is thought that this new Emmerdale storyline will receive similar complaints, but bosses are happy that everything has been done sensitively.
