Ring, a smart home security company, has released video footages showing how it saved its users from attempted burglary. The company claims that the footages captured by its devices were able to help police make approximately 100 arrests in the past year.
Recently, prolific career criminal Neil Charles was caught by the police after he was caught attempting to break into a family home on a Ring doorbell. He was sentenced to four years in prison.
The company also made an announcement that there are now 100,000 UK homes fitted with a Ring video camera, which provides homeowners access to live footage from their doorstep wherever they are in the world.
Rodger Holden, director of business development, Crimestoppers, which supports the device, said: “Camera-based devices, such as those provided by Ring, can play an important part in crime detection and prevention. We are thrilled that Ring is supporting our efforts to reduce crime and make our communities safer.”
The Ring Video Doorbell, which is also accredited by police crime prevention initiative, Secured by Design, seems to be successful in helping police departments in fighting doorstep crimes.
