A smart doorbell is a WiFi-connected device that allows you to see who is knocking on your door via your phone. With the right accessories, it can also allow you speak directly to a delivery man if he comes when you’re not home so you can give them instructions.

 

Smart doorbells are used the same way as any other doorbell. Your visitors would also have to press a button and when they do, your phone will alert you. You can then see who is at the door and even communicate with them using the speaker and microphone. Aside from convenience, smart doorbells also provide another layer of security. In the case of a suspicious visitor, you can see who they are without going near the door and even record their identity.

 

Smart doorbells compliment smart door locks that allow you to grant entry to your visitors who stop by while you aren’t home.

 

Unlike other home automation products, the market for smart doorbells is relatively young. This means that while you can expect these products to work well enough, many manufacturers are still working out some kinks and evolving their functionality.
