Shilton tipped for Ice show

Football legend Peter Shilton is set to appear on the next series of Dancing on Ice, according to reports.

The goalkeeper, who has played more games for England than any other player, will begin training for the show ready for when it stars in January 2010.

A source told The Sun: "A footballer has never managed to win the show but insiders think Peter could have a good shot at the top spot."

Rumours of other celebrities who look set to join the line-up include Hollyoaks actresses Gemma Merna and Jennifer Metcalfe, who play the McQueen sisters, Carmel and Mercedes. They were pictured trying out for Dancing on Ice at a rink in London.

It has also been reported that the next series of Dancing on Ice will have an additional Friday night show which will see the stars in training.

Show producers are also currently on the hunt for a judge to take over from Ruthie Henshall, with former ice stars Melinda Messenger and Suzanne Shaw both keen to take on the role.
