Self-Tying Shoes

Nike has unveiled HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers, the firm’s first self-tying shoes.

Nike has unveiled its HyperAdapat 1.0 sneakers that features “sport-informed adaptive lacing.” The company revealed that the shoes have the capability to automatically tighten the shoe laces when the wearer steps into them.

 

The new shoes were shown off as part of a range of new technology, which also included an update to the Nike+ app.

 

“When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten,” said the leader of the project of Nike, Tiffany Beers, in a statement. “Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it’s perfect.”

 

“Wouldn’t it be great if a shoe, in the future, could sense when you needed to have it tighter or looser?” said Tinker Hatfield, who worked on the shoe, in a statement. “Could it take you even tighter than you’d normally go if it senses you really need extra snugness in a quick maneuver? That’s where we’re headed. In the future, product will come alive.”
