Journey To The Centre Of The Earth?

Actor Brian Blessed wants to be the first Briton to visit the deepest point on Earth. The actor, who has an array of daredevil activities planned to celebrate his 80th birthday, has already went to the bottom of the Mariana Trench seven miles down in the Pacific.
He has previously proven himself as a credible explorer. He is the oldest man to trek to the Magnetic North Pole and has successfully climbed Mount Aconcagua in Argentina and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, in addition to three unsuccessful excursions on Everest.
He says: ““I want to go to the bottom of the Marianas Trench in a bathysphere – all the way 37,000ft down.”
He added: “You must understand, I do believe death exists, despite constantly defying it. But I live out on a limb.”
The expedition is just one of his death-defying adventures on his bucket list, which also includes a trip into space.
“My biggest love in life is space,” Blessed says.
“I’ve always been mesmerised by space and I firmly believe that we are the children of stardust, and we’re yearning for the stars.
“I’m determined to go to the moon and I’m very keen that we get moving in space. I think we have this wonderful race memory for exploration – as old as the universe, and we’re just scratching at the surface of it.
“We don’t just belong here on this planet. The Earth has got to have a rest.”
