Scotland's Digital Sector Requires Faster Bandwidth

Scotland’s digital sector is growing exponentially and has been forecasted to grow more than twice as fast as its overall economy by 2024. This is because the country has become the place of choice for many international companies, including Nucleus Financial, SkyScanner, Toshiba Medical Systems and even Amazon.
The country’s growing digital sector is putting a huge demand on the country’s digital resources, which forces the Scottish government to take measures in order to ensure that it can provide superfast broadband to support the companies it hosts. However, the digital strategy outlined in the Scottish government’s budget does not go far enough to deliver the connectivity that modern businesses need. This affects more than fifth of small and medium-sized businesses in the country, which unlike larger enterprises, cannot afford to invest in dedicated fibre broadband services.
It is a good thing then that a number of commercial providers are now offering full fibre solutions. An example is CityFibre, which in collaboration with MLL Telecoms and Stirling Council, is now delivering 20km of gigabit-speed broadband services to 3,000 businesses. This service will make Stirling Scotland’s fourth gigabit city.
