Former Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell is set to return to Albert Square this week.

The last time fans saw the diminutive Mitchell matriarch was in April 2003 as she jetted off to Brazil to look after her son Grant - who has not been seen in Walford since he drove a car into the Thames.

But Peggy, played by Carry On legend Barbara Windsor, will be back to celebrate her daughter Sam's wedding.

In the real world Windsor, 67, has been recovering from the Epstein-Barr virus during her absence from the Albert Square set.

Windsor will be back for just two episodes - on Thursday and Friday - but is planning to make her visit memorable.

"Peggy is the sort of person who'd want to outshine the bride," Windsor told Hello magazine.

"She likes everyone to know that she is queen bee and her daughter's wedding is the perfect opportunity."
