Openreach’s nationwide investment programme to bring some of the fastest, more reliable broadband services to Bradford and other 28 new UK locations.

Engineers at Openreach are set to carry out detailed planning and survey work as they prepare to build new future-proof fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network that will bring fast internet connections to thousands of houses and businesses in 29 different UK locations. The scheme complements the ongoing broadband upgrades by the Superfast West Yorkshire and York programme, a partnership between York City Council, five West Yorkshire local authorities, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the UK Government. 

 

 

 

Openreach’s managing director for Strategic Infrastructure Development, Kim Mears said: “We’re looking forward to bringing future-proof broadband infrastructure to thousands of homes and businesses across Bradford. Our engineers are about to begin a detailed survey of the city and we plan to start building the network in around a year’s time. Our intention is to build quickly, efficiently and with minimal disruption to people living and working in Bradford.”

In 2018, the company opened a new £1million training centre in Bradford to educate the next generation of digital engineers bringing vital broadband services to communities across Yorkshire and beyond.
