Openreach Fibre Rollout Success

Openreach confirms that it has successfully connected 600,000 premises since its full-fibre rollout.

Openreach has confirmed that its full-fibre rollout has successfully brought broadband service to more than 600,000 premises in the UK. The firm aims to roll out fibre-to-the-premises technology to three million premises by 2020 starting with Manchester, London, Liverpool, Leeds, Exeter, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bristol.

 

Openreach’s managing director, Kim Mears, said that the service offers up to 1Gbps.

 

"That’s about 24 times faster than the current UK average," she commented.

 

"This has the potential to completely transform the way people go online, and opens up a world of opportunity."
