NZ Gore District Review Free Wifi
The Gore District Council reviews free WiFi network, GoConnect.
21:39 09 March 2018
The Gore District Council is set to review its free WiFi network after members of the public report not being able to connect to the service. Council chief executive Stephen Parry confirmed that the goal of the review is to determine whether the service is meeting the needs and expectations of users.
When asked if he himself is satisfied with the service, Mr Parry declined to comment saying: "I am not really in a position to comment on the GoConnect network as we are in the midst of a review of the service. Until that review is completed and I have had a chance to talk through issues with those that are more closely involved then myself, I don't think it is fair or appropriate to make comment,"
Parry confirmed that the review can take a couple of months but “will have a better idea about that timeline in the next week or so, once I have had a meeting with key council staff."
The council invested $16,850 to set up the service and pays $1,200 for it per month to provide free WiFi in the Gore central business area and heritage precinct.
