A recent study has found that Britain is the second biggest video game market after Germany and the fifth largest in the world. According to figures, there are currently 19 million paying gamers and another 13 million who use free-to-play games like Fortnite.
One of the issues that UK gamers face on a day-to-day basis is unreliable internet connectivity. Problems like latency, lag, unstable ping and screen freezing during games all contribute to bad experience. And with more devices connecting through the same router in the same house, this challenge is bound to increase.
To solve the issue, Netgear has launched Nighthawk XR500, which has been specifically designed to address problems in online gaming caused by latency. It boasts state-of-the-art Quality of Service (QOS) system that minimise lag and support for gaming VPN services, which protects a player’s network identity.
"This in response to players launching Denial of Service (DoS) attacks against other, and also to an emerging extreme phenomenon in online gaming known as “Swatting” where disgruntled gaming opponents successfully work out a player’s identity and location, and then use this to disrupt their playing," the spokeswoman said.
