Northern and Springfield Roads in Middleborough have become hotspots for fly-tipping. Ayresome ward councillors Denise Rooney and Vic Walkington hope to resolve the issue with the installation of additional CCTV cameras in the area. Landowners Gleeson and Middlesbrough Council have also undertaken a big clean-up of the area.
Cllrs Rooney and Walkington said: “We know this has been an eyesore for many years and after much discussion, Gleeson have at last agreed to keep the grass cut during the growing season.
“Gleeson, working with the council, tidied up the land to help with the grass cutting.
“The land is still private which means the council cannot go onto it to clear any rubbish.
“However, Gleeson and the council can work together to bring prosecutions for any fly-tipping in the area.
“Fly-tipping is a blight and it is also an offence for which the council can and will prosecute.”
