New CCTV for Mold's Bailey Hill

CCTV to be installed at Mold's Bailey Hill to clamp down anti-social behaviours.

Flintshire Council has approved plans to install a new CCTV equipment at Mold's Bailey Hill following concerns over anti-social behaviours. 

 

According to the documents filed by Mold Town Council, two CCTV columns with cameras will be installed, one sited at the junction of the paths between the outer and inner baileys and one to the south of the inner bailey. 

 

It adds: "The CCTV cameras will assist in protecting the significant multi funded improvement and restoration work currently being undertaken to improve Bailey Hill.

 

"The CCTV columns did not form part of the consented application for the improvement works, as CCTV was not part of the original project brief.

 

"Since the time of the original application the steering group has concerns regarding anti-social behaviour within the park, and have raised funds for CCTV cameras within the park.

 

"The CCTV cameras will be monitored by Mold Town Council."

 

A planning report issued by the council following the decision explains: "The main issue to be considered within the determination of this application is the effect upon the heritage assets of the Mold Conservation Area and the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Bailey Hill.

 

"The site lies within the Conservation Area for Mold and as such the Conservation Officer has been consulted on the application who advises that it has been outlined that there is a need to provide security cameras on the site in order to limit anti-social behaviour in the park and damage to recently refurbished buildings.

 

"It is considered that the proposals would be slightly detrimental to the character of the area as the two camera columns are difficult to conceal. "However it is felt that the arguments for cameras outweigh the aesthetic argument against."
