A TV show in China conducted a physical test designed to let men experienced the pain of childbirth using a labour pain simulator. 20 men, who are all fathers-to-be, participated and was applauded for their effort to emphathise.
The Labour Pain Challenge, which was conducted in Nanchang, central China’s Jiangxi province, was won by a firefighter.
The purpose of the show was to remind people of the greatness of mothers and how much women suffer through childbirth.
However, this is not the first time that such test was carried out. Last year, a free service offered in a hospital in China, gave men the opportunity of going through labour pains. Using the simulator, pads were attached to the abdomen and mimic the pain of contractions. The sessions only lasted five minutes.
