TV presenter Melanie Sykes has announced her engagement to boyfriend Jack Cockings, whom she met on Twitter just four months ago. Melanie described the feeling as ‘giddy’ as she settles into the role of ‘bride-to-be’. 

 

Just this past April, however, Jack Cockings, 26, was just a stranger who tweeted Sykes, 42, to ask her out. Soon after that, the two became Twitter headlines as they openly tweetedracy messages to each other. Their public and rather graphic flirtation through the micro-blogging site did not escape the attention of the headlines. 

 

And now, the former model has used the same medium to announce her engagement. She tweeted: “Just want to let you know that me& Jack @bespokespartan are engaged to be married and we are very giddy xxxx”.

 

Sykes is a well-known TV presenter who started in the industry by appearing in a beer advert. She has appeared on Today with Des and Mel and on The Big Breakfast. She also worked in Alan Carr in a presenting stint on Radio 2. Sykes has two children from her previous marriage to Italian actor Daniel Caltagirone, with whom she separated in 2009.

 

Her boyfriend and fiancé, Jack Cockings, is a Dorset-born businessman who runs his own roofing company.
