In a pre-recorded interview to promote his band’s new autobiography ‘Unsaid Things… Our Story’, McFly star Dougie Poynter confessed he has attempted suicide.
The bassist has reportedly explained he tried to take his own life in a car following last year’s break-up with The Saturdays singer, Frankie Sandford.
When asked by Alan Carr about the attempted suicide, Dougie simply said “yeah” and later on added: “It's always good to reflect on that sort of stuff. I'm in a really, really good place now. It is quite easy to forget.”
This revelation apparently stunned the studio audience.
When asked if he feels better after writing about his struggles, Dougie said: “It is quite easy to forget. It's quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself.”
The rocker has reportedly sought treatment and – as reported by The Sun – has stayed more than 30 days in the Priory.
He was crowned King of the jungle in the 11th series of popular ITV’s reality TV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
