Timeless diva Madonna recently surprised audiences when she sunk to her knees while performing her hit ‘Like A Virgin’, then proceeded to sing the song in a slow, throaty version instead of its usual lively tune.

The ‘breakdown’ occurred when the Material Girl performed at the O2 World Arena in Berlin as part of her MDNA world tour.

Madonna has surprised her fans over the years with a lot of antics onstage, including flashing her nipple and showing her bottom. But she once again surprised her Berlin audience with a never- before-heard version of the popular song. The crowd went wild when she crawled across the stage on all fours, using a black cane to prop herself up for dramatics. Then, at the height of her emotions, a singer made his way towards her and cradled her in his arms as the singer belted out the chorus. As she neared the end of the song, the dancer fastened a corset around the singer and tugged at the strings, as Madonna let out a theatrical gasp.

All the soulful dramatics are certainly a welcome change from the concert star’s previous attention-grabbing gimmicks, but it definitely still has the same effect.

Madonna is set to continue her tour by moving on to Russia, despite being advised to cancel her St. Petersburg concert after the latter forbid the ‘promotion of homosexuality’ there. Not one to back down, the singer says, “I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels oppressed.”
