Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea CCTV Plans
Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Town Council to take charge of their of CCTV network.
14:04 13 July 2018
Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Town Council is now taking steps to run its own CCTV cameras after town councillors felt that they are not getting their money’s worth from East Lindsey District Council.
Town Mayor, Councillor Stephen Palmer, said that one of vital cameras installed in Victoria Road, Mablethorpe has been out of action for more than two years. As a result, two serious assaults have taken place in the area within the last four weeks with no CCTV footage that police can use for their enquiry.
Coun Palmer said: “Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Town Council has made the decision to go it alone with the CCTV as we are disappointed with the service given.
“The Town Council’s priority is to its residents, and feel we need better value for money and better reliability of the cameras. “We need to take back the system in house, which is currently being run in Boston.”
Coun Palmer added the Town Council felt it had not received a good service and said “it isn’t acceptable anymore and that “the people of Mablethorpe and Sutton deserve better.”
