Corrie actress Lucy-Jo Hudson has a lot of respect for the way her feisty character Katy Harris behaves - but sees few similarities between the two girls.

Which is just as well, as Katy bludgeons dad Tommy to death this week for making her go through with an abortion.

"She's tempestuous but I love that about her. Katy's so different from any other character her age," Lucy-Jo told the Barking and Dagenham Post.

"She's got really trashy clothes, her hair's never brushed and she hardly wears make up. She does what she wants and strops around."

But the way she deals with her relationship with older man Martin and her pregnancy is not how Lucy-Jo would cope.

"I'd make a better girlfriend than Katy," says the 21-year-old. "Katy just sees her and Martin - the rest of the world just doesn't exist."

She added: "I wasn't like her when I was a teenager. If someone really hurts me I can fight back but generally I have to be pushed really far for me to attack.

"I'm quite placid and I get along with everyone. I never say or do things without thinking them through."

Katy leaves the Street after the brutal murder of her dad, but she is giving nothing away about how she leaves.

"I think I leave around April. It's up in the air about how but I can tell you it's going to be good," the actress said.

"But I don't know if the door is going to be left open. If it's a bigger storyline for me to go out with a bang and to never return then so be it."
